A good day to you,
while we, by using high amounts of coffee, are patiently awaiting your response to some of our questions, the discussions circled around your first reply. Many Brights here do have an incredible amount of energy and motivation, they are hard to stop from doing "something" (in fact they are hard to stop from doing anything). I think we can find a common solution for what this something, basically, could be and should not be. Our issues might have been too much for once, as you certainly have other important things to do. So I summed up the most important questions we have for you:
1. We also like to make use of "Brighten Opportunities", action-suggestions from "Brights Germany" (result of a public discussion) everyone can take part in, if he or she wants to. Is that possible?
2. We also like to offer a Bright's shop on a non-profit-base, make advertising campaigns etc. and we would need to offer a donation possibility for Brights to finance it. You wrote: "Legally we are a U.S. 501c3 non-profit educational organization", which gives you many possibilities. There is no comparable way of organizing in Germany. Next thing would be a non-profit-making-institution according to German law of associations/BGB (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch). This form of organization could be in business for opening up a Bright's shop etc. How independend of the Brights' Net educational organization are legal subjects within the Brights movement? Do we have to work out a "charta" or is there already a charta for Brights organizations of other countries?
Unexpectedly we will have to stick to the rules of our country, so we may not organize the same way as the Brights' Net does. But we have to organize in some way or we cannot do anything. This would be quite a shame when I think of the stunning range of supporters we have here. Some of the most important philosophers and scientists of this country are Brights and they are willing to support our actions (so far they are informed about them). Among our active supporters are teachers, programmers, journalists - we just have to use this potential to popularize the naturalist worldview, don't you think?
Bright regards,
Andreas
